Does being detached go beyond the surface?
In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. ~Psalm 18:6 (ESV)
Uninvolved, separated, aloof, or indifferent
Definitions for detached that are reasonably coherent
But look beyond the surface to some possible root causes
In order to completely heal and stop layering the gauzes
Uninvolved, disengaged and the reason is unknown
Uninvited, not included, was it bad seeds sown?
Was it something said, something done; sometimes it’s a mystery
But know that true relationships aren’t that difficult – they should be easy
Separated, left out, whisperings in the absence of
People can sense these things, even when trying to cover it with love
Smiling in your face, but saying other words behind your back
Hypocritical, God is not, and He alone can get you back on track
Aloof or indifferent, it may seem on the surface
But is the heart genuine or for show, does the motive have pure purpose?
Labels are easy for sister Sally or brother John
But God loved everyone the same, whether honest or a con
Detached, look beyond the surface, is there something you can do
No, you are not the Savior, but are you willing to let Him use you?
Are you a willing worker for that person who stumbled into the church?
Or will you talk, point, and laugh at them from your self-appointed perch?
Detached, that teenager who says nothing, but has sadness in their eyes
Will you try to establish a relationship or look for gossip and criticisms to despise?
Are you a disciple of Christ who is ready to put in the work for more souls?
Or are you only out for self, thinking you are God’s best creation to behold?
Detached, comes with a reason, sometimes, it’s ever so subtle, it’s true
For layers of rejection, can cause detachment to feel safer than the flu
God will always hear your cry, even if you feel there isn’t a person who will
God will always wrap you in His love, and will not follow up with a bill
God will take your feelings of being alone and diminish them with His love
God will take your hopelessness and replace it with cheer you never thought of
God will heal the deep-rooted hurt and allow you to again be trusting
God will show you relationships that do not require constant adjusting
God can take detached and replace it with being whole
God can combat any negative emotion that tries to fill your soul
God will show you that in Him, there is love, peace, joy, and contentment
God will help you identify and rebuke, fear, sadness, and resentment
Won’t you let God help you today with that feeling of being alone?
Won’t you allow God to show you a better way than feeling like you are disowned?
Release detached, untrusting, afraid; rebuke chaos and strife
Open yourself to God today and let Him flow boldly in your life
Let God show you a better way than being detached from even Him
Let God open your heart and spirit to His which is better than any passing whim
Welcome God into your space each day and invite him to be a major part
Give God what He really wants; give God your heart
Romans 10:9-10 (ESV) - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
