Coach or Be Coached

Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life. ~Proverbs 19:20 (NLT)

Advice, instruction, and learning should be occurring whether the coach or the one being coached! Beatifically Free

Even coaches need coaches, so whether you are the coach or the one being coached, advice, instruction, and learning should be occurring. As a coach, one should advise individuals as to the best course of action for their situation. Yet, a coach, also needs to have a foundation with which to advise individuals on. Whether this is a formal degree, a certified training, or even crafting the ability to advise individuals soundly, the coach, just like a teacher needs to be refreshed, poured into, and coached as well. This may happen through conferences and events, masterclasses, or even intentional one-on-one sessions, but it happens to further inspire, open access to varying techniques, and to prevent stagnation and burnout.

Accountability

A coach will have measurable processes and steps defined for their clients to process through which will help both the coach and the client track progress. Accountability obligates an individual to report, explain or answer to someone else. Measurable processes even if encouraging yourself along the way comes in many ways.

Measuring creating a new habit. Mark off the days on the calendar for the days you have completed the habit. I am guilty of having one result in my ‘mind’ and another very real result on paper. Until I started actually tracking it on paper, in my mind I was working out 4-5 times a week. However, the paper revealed it was more like 3-4 times a week. Not a huge different it seems, but big enough for the visual reality to help me focus enough to be more disciplined about being consistent. It may not be the same time every day, however, now it is in reality as well as in my mind, more like 4-5 times a week most weeks.

I love this because this can be used for practically anything, writing the book, taking steps to start the business, preparing to go back to school, cancelling that debt one by one, or even working on relationships with family, friends, and of course that special someone.

When it comes to accountability, who is your coach, and who are you coaching to be more consistent, disciplined, and encouraged?

Encourage Action

A coach encourages action and excites movement in a forward direction. Action and the right energy invoke the beginning of a transformational attitude and posture towards a thing. It enables a person to Move Out Of “Pause” and actually Commit To A Thing. Once the attitude towards action is in the right place, then the action can actually take place. Let us say that again:

Mindset is a key factor behind action. What makes you do what you do? Is it because of you and your discipline? Is it for someone you love? Is it because you are competitive and someone else is trying it? What is your trigger into action? I like to see results, so for me, marking things off on a calendar helps encourage me into action for working out. However, for results in my knowledge and understanding, I get that from reading, researching, and learning new things.

What makes you jump into action and how can you use this to keep you motivated? What makes you tick?

Celebrate Achievements

All too often, the results and the measurable methods overshadow the celebratory moments which can often create a cycle of being busy and missing out on enjoying the journey. Celebration of milestones can be as small or as large as you make them. A simple satisfactory moment shared with a few or a social media milestone sale or giveaway to celebrate with many. You decide, but make it happen. It helps keep the momentum going and it fuels the thing that makes you jump into action.

In what ways will you add more celebratory milestones on your calendar, in your processes, and for continued momentum?
