Valley experiences strengthen us, seemingly in reverse.
When you know things are shifting, but you don’t see how
A flashlight would be nice to show you the path, the mule, the plow
When you know greater is waiting, but the journey is not quite clear
A flashlight would be nice, so you know when to swerve, when to veer
But if you had the flashlight, where would your faith be?
It is in the not knowing that God allows life’s lessons for your journey
The flashlight would show you the big sink hole for you to go around
But then, rising from that fall would prevent wisdom in problem solving from being found.
The flashlight would show you the rock slide about to head your way
And you wouldn’t learn flexibility and agility to handle unknowns that you can slay
The flashlight would show you the imps and the demons for who they are
And that discernment that has become so keen would not have healed those scars
The flashlight would prepare you for the loss of a loved one, it’s true
However, those you thought were in your corner, you wouldn’t have seen how their heart really is toward you.
A flashlight would be nice, I admit it on this side of the journey
However, I am grateful it is God who decides, although He doesn’t always make it easy.
No flashlight has made me resilient, flexible, and patient
No flashlight has kept me humble, grateful, and in a place of reverence
For no flashlight builds character, develops discernment, and foresight
However, I ain’t gonna lie, there are times a flashlight would be nice.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. ~Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
"Every cloud has a silver lining, but sometimes we need a flashlight from God to see the reflection."
What are some things that you are trusting, seeking, and looking for God to bring you through; some things that you would love God to give you a flashlight so you could see?
