Remain Faithful

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” ~Luke 6:38 [NLT]

Sometimes even when you give with pure motives and the best intentions, the return on your giving seems to be slow coming or like it got lost during transit or something. Have you ever given your best in a relationship or at work and it seemed to go unnoticed, unappreciated, or even taken for granted? That can leave you feeling like “What’s the use?” “Why can’t I catch a break?” or perhaps like you misunderstood what God’s word says about being a cheerful giver. You feel as though you have misinterpreted the scriptures indicating you will reap what you sow, or that the measure with which you give is the same measure you will be rewarded. I am here to tell you to hold on to God’s word. Man may disappoint you, let you down, and even set you up for failure, but God’s word never returns void. Trust in the God who has never lied, and you will reap the harvest that matches and exceeds the seeds that you have sown. How can I say this? How can I be so sure? Let’s take a look.

Abram remained faithful and though he and Sarai tried to help God with his promise to them of a child through Hagar birthing Ishmael, God honored His promise to them and Sarai birthed Isaac. Abram was seventy-five years old when God told Abram to leave where he was, go where God told him, God would make him a great nation, and God would bless him and his descendants (Genesis 12). However, Abraham was 100 years old before Sarah birthed Isaac (Genesis 21). Over those 25 years, Abraham remained faithful to God’s instructions. Sure, he and his wife tried to figure out God’s process and created some confusion, but God still blessed them with the promise He told them of which was Isaac who was the beginning of Abraham’s great nation and plentiful descendants.

  • When you remain faithful to God and walk in obedience, God will honor His promise(s) to you and reward your faithfulness.

  • When you remain faithful to God and do not allow distractions and mistakes to cause you to doubt what God said would be, God will reward your faithfulness over the doubt, and release the promise(s) He made to you.

Faithful Reflections

  1. What has God promised you that has not yet come to pass. What are you faithfully waiting to come into existence? That fulfilling relationship? Your dream home? Your ideal business or career position? I challenge you to remain faithful in what God promised you and keep walking closer to its big reveal.

  2. What distractions or mistakes do you need to repent of for trying to rush God’s process? Did you enter a relationship that was supposed to remain at friendship status? Did you buy that house too soon and are now swimming in debt? Have you made a bad business decision or jumped at the first opening because you were desperate for income and now you hate getting up and going to work every day? I challenge you to remain faithful to what God promised you and trust His process over your flesh for the amazing reward(s) that await you.

Remaining faithful is not always an easy thing to do, for the process sometimes seemingly takes a toll on you. However, when you remain faithful, one thing is certainly true. That God will deliver on every single promise He has made to you.

Remain faithful no matter what mistakes you make. Repent and watch the Lord ease that regretful ache. Remain faithful and forgive yourself for the errors made. Remain faithful and prevent doubt from coming in to dissuade.

Remain faithful regardless of how long it may take. Remain faithful for you know God’s promises are real and not fake. Remain faithful for God has proven He is who He claims to be. Remain faithful for you know God will deliver and bless you immeasurably and abundantly.
