Be Purposeful

Updated: Dec 5, 2021

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. ~Proverbs 20:5 (KJV)

Dictionary.com defines purpose as the reason for which something exists, is done, or made; an intended or desired result, end, aim, or goal; determination, resoluteness. With this definition, why is there so much pressure to find your purpose and identify your passion so all of your worries will be over? It is so easy to get caught up in the many ‘purpose’ clichés, quotes and catch phrases that exist. (Just search for quotes around purpose). However, if we look at the definition of the word, it’s not something amazing that God just drops in our spirit one day, nor is it something found by being a lifetime conference seeker, webinar attender, but never putting action behind anything either.

God's word of Proverbs 20, verse 5 lets us know that counsel (advice, direction, guidance) is already within you, however understanding is needed to draw it out. If the direction is already within you, then what is the understanding that will draw it out? It is trusting in yourself, believing in yourself, and having faith in God to help bring clarity to those things that are already within you. All of this translates to taking a Pause and spending Quiet Time with yourself and with God. Reflecting on those things that you have dreamed about, and probably dreamed about on a recurring basis. Those things that no matter how much others tell you and you begin to tell yourself they wouldn’t pay the bills or be profitable, they keep coming up. Those things you wanted to do before the rejections, failed attempts, or the safer career options presented a life of comfortable.

The answer is deep within you, so grab a real good accountability partner and start planning your next steps. That is, if you are going to go after those dreams and visions that are deep within your belly. Afterall, God didn’t give those dreams and visions to you for you to not use them, or keep them to yourself.

Be purposeful in seeking God for clarity on your dream or your vision, who you are to be a blessing to and what solutions you offer for them.

Be purposeful after attending a conference or webinar and actually use that information to help you plot your course.

Be purposeful when looking for a coach in your niche and invest your money in taking action with someone who will give you the hard truth, but help you birth those dreams and visions.

Be purposeful when putting in the time to plan your next steps and ask God for guidance every step of the way.

Be purposeful with your actions and choices that they all support your dream or your vision.

Be purposeful, but recognize you are human and that distractions are guaranteed, being side tracked is going to happen, and facing opposition is a given. However, now that you have clarity, an accountability partner or two, and are planning your course with God’s guidance, be purposeful in being unstoppable.

Be purposeful in being determined to execute your vision or dream to the fullest capacity and believe God that even that execution will blow your mind and be more than you could ever imagine.

Be purposeful.
